fellowship of christian refugees – Nicosia chapter opens

‘Fill the earth …’ (Genesis 1:28)  ‘Go and make disciples of all nations …; (Matthew 28:19).  Abraham leaving Ur … Israel leaving Egypt … Jesus fleeing Bethlehem … the Jerusalem believers scattered because of persecution … All through scripture we read of God working in and through refugees.

Last night the first official meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Refugees (FCR) Nicosia gathered 11 people from Somalia, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Cameroon (and one lone American refugee :-) ). Under the leadership of a Cameroonian refugee, God is ministering to many from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East who are escaping political and humanitarian hardship.  But many of those who are coming to Europe are Christians, and God is using them to reintroduce this continent to the gospel.

Among other things, they discussed the spirit of rejection experienced by so many refugees.  They testified to the fear, guilt, and doubt they often feel.  Plans were discussed to network with the community, discipleship, and mobilizing refugees to minister to those in hospitals and prisons.

‘Christ for every refugee; and through every refugee, Christ for the world.’ You can visit FCR’s official website by clicking the link on the left.

God is up to something.
