Not familiar with the benefits of Lent or Ash Wednesday? The two minute video below may help.

Last Sunday we talked about goodness and it’s enemies at the Nicosia International Church. Goodness as a fruit of the Spirit isn’t really about moral rules, but loving relationships (Galatians 6:1-10 was our text).  Are we sowing goodness into our community? One enemy of such goodness is a lack of margin – time, money, energy.  Lent is the perfect time to examine our lifestyles and address the issue of margin. What can I give up to free up time, money, and energy for others? Doing such things sows goodness into our community. And the harvest is life. (Read Galatians 6:1-10 … really.)

This Sunday our focus is the next aspect of the Fruit of the Spirit: faithfulness. Again, faithfulness according to our text (Hebrews 10:19-25) is faith expressed in our relationships.

Lent is God’s gift encouraging us to look to Him and break free of the sinful weight that so easily entangles us (Hebrews 12:1). That way we’re we’re free to love, serve, and worship.

So what are you giving up for Lent?
